Alghero has not only beautiful sea beaches, natural parks or historical point of interest, but there are museums where to discover much more of the history of this special town.

City Archeological Museum

Description: The City Archaeological Museum – houses the oldest evidence of human habitation in the area, from the protohistoric period to the Nuragic era and Phoenician and Roman times.

The exhibition focuses on three things that are of particularly significance for Alghero and the surrounding area: the sea, local lifestyle, religion.

The museum is located on Via Carlo Alberto, in the heart of the old city.

It is housed in a building that was recently restored, having once been the site of a monastery complex connected to the Church of San Michele.

Museum Casa Manno

Description: The Museum Casa Manno, situated in the oldest historic centre nucleus, in the neighbourhood Pou Salit (salted well) and Santa Maria cathedral, is an historical narrative of the Sardinian people reminisced through the life of Giuseppe Manno, the great historian of Alghero.

Full-price adult ticket for two parents and free entry for up to three children (up to age 14).

MASE Museo Antoine De Saint-Exupéry

This is a new museum set up at the New Tower of Porto Conte, dedicated to the author of the famous novel “The Little Prince”.A fascinating journey through the life and works of the aviator-writer, to discover his particular relationship with the people and places of the Porto Conte Park.

It is located in the ancient Rosario church in the heart of the historical centre, conserves and exhibits the treasures of the Cathedral and the historical churches of the city.

The collection of silver, wooden sculptures and paintings document the long evolution over the centuries of cultural and religious life, as well as the ingenuity of man. It also makes these treasures accessible to the tourist and traveler by proposing an itinerary in which the value of history of a community nestled within its territory and open to other towns in Italy and along the Mediterranean.

As usual, the bell tower openings are subject to variations due to unforeseen liturgical celebrations and adverse weather conditions.
